Washington D.C.: Around 200 US military personnel have been injured across the Middle East since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran, a US military spokesperson said on Monday.

Captain Tim Hawkins, speaking on behalf of US Central Command, said the majority of injuries were minor, with more than 180 troops already having returned to duty. However, 10 personnel are currently classified as seriously wounded.

The injuries have been reported across several countries hosting US forces, including Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The updated figures mark an increase from earlier estimates by the Pentagon, which reported around 140 injuries as of March 10. Hawkins said two additional cases were recently reclassified as serious injuries following further medical evaluation.

The casualties have occurred amid ongoing retaliatory attacks by Iran, which has launched waves of missiles and drones targeting US positions and allied locations across the region. The conflict began on February 28 when US and Israeli forces initiated military operations against Iran.

In response, Tehran has targeted countries hosting US bases, contributing to rising instability across the Middle East.

The conflict has also resulted in American fatalities. Thirteen US service members have been killed so far, including seven in direct attacks. Six others died in Iraq following a crash involving a KC-135 refuelling aircraft, which US officials described as an accident.

One of the deadliest incidents occurred on February 28 at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait, where a drone strike hit a tactical operations centre, killing six US soldiers. Another service member later died from injuries sustained in an attack at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

US officials said recent strikes have focused on Iranian missile launchers and drone storage facilities in an effort to limit Tehran’s ability to carry out further attacks.
