Iran Accuses Israel of Pushing US Toward War

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Israel of seeking to “drag” the United States into wars on its behalf, in remarks escalating tensions amid continuing unrest inside Iran and broader regional friction. Araghchi’s comments, made Wednesday on the social platform X and in domestic media remarks, reflect Tehran’s sharp criticism of both Washington and Jerusalem’s roles in Middle East conflicts.

In his message, Araghchi said Israel has “always sought to drag the US into fighting wars on its behalf,” adding that this dynamic was now being spoken “out loud.” He framed his criticism against the backdrop of ongoing protests in Iran where security forces have cracked down on dissent accusing Israel of encouraging or even arming anti-government demonstrators, which he linked to “hundreds of deaths” in Iranian cities. Araghchi called on U.S. President Donald Trump to address Israel’s influence if he truly aims to reduce violence inside Iran.

The remarks come at a time of heightened tension between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv. Iran has been embroiled in widespread protests sparked by economic hardship and political grievances, drawing international attention and criticism over the regime’s response. Tehran has repeatedly blamed foreign “interference,” particularly from Israel and the U.S., for exacerbating unrest and instability, even as global rights groups document significant casualties and arrests. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have signalled possible responses to human rights concerns, and regional security anxieties remain elevated amid recent airspace closures and military posturing.

Araghchi’s declaration underscores longstanding Iranian claims that U.S. support for Israel entangles Washington in Middle Eastern conflicts, a narrative Tehran has used to justify its own defensive and diplomatic positions. The broader geopolitical situation remains complex, with both diplomatic engagement and potential confrontation shaping international responses to developments inside Iran and across the region.
