flydubai and Boeing Partner to Elevate Pilot and Maintenance Training
Dubai Airshow
At the 2025 Dubai Airshow, Dubai-based carrier flydubai and aerospace giant Boeing announced a landmark collaboration aimed at transforming training for pilots and maintenance personnel. The agreements focus on delivering comprehensive Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) programmes, designed to enhance skill development through competency-focused and data-driven scenarios.
The partnership will see Boeing not only provide the training frameworks but also offer consulting support to ensure smooth implementation across flydubai’s operations.
Captain Ahmad Bin Huzaim, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations & Crew Training at flydubai, highlighted the significance of the initiative: “flydubai is committed to integrating cutting-edge technologies and world-class services to ensure our training meets the highest global standards. Boeing’s CBTA programmes provide our pilots and engineers with a modern, performance-driven approach, tailored to their development needs. By focusing on demonstrated competencies, we can offer a more effective and personalised training experience, further enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and confidence across our flight and maintenance teams.”
flydubai currently employs over 6,700 staff, including nearly 1,400 pilots and 640 engineers, operating a growing fleet of 96 Boeing 737 aircraft. Earlier this year, the airline inaugurated its Flight Training facility and launched the flydubai Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and strengthening workforce capabilities.
Chris Broom, Vice President of Training Solutions at Boeing Global Services, added, “These agreements underscore flydubai’s proactive leadership in prioritising safety and quality. We look forward to supporting their teams with comprehensive training services that ensure their pilots and maintenance crews are equipped to meet the highest standards.”
With this collaboration, flydubai is not only investing in the future of its personnel but also setting a benchmark for aviation training in the region.
