The second Fujairah Children’s Book Fair established itself as a mega cultural event, drawing over 11,000 visitors and 52 publishing houses.
The second edition of the Fujairah Children’s Book Fair concluded on Sunday evening. The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, at the Dibba Exhibition Centre. It ran from October 26 to November 2, 2025. The fair featured 52 local and international publishing houses. More than 11,000 visitors attended, including students, families, and reading and culture enthusiasts from Fujairah and the UAE.
H.E. Dr Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah and Chairman of the Organising Committee, celebrated the fair’s great success. He thanked His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah for his continuous support and generous patronage of this educational and cultural event. H.E. Dr Al Zeyoudi said: "The Fujairah Children’s Book Fair demonstrated the emirate’s focus on early childhood. It nurtured a love of reading and a sense of cultural values. This year’s strong participation from publishers and creative talents highlighted Fujairah’s growing national cultural presence.”
H.E. Nasser Mohammed Al Yammahi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, and the Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the fair's role in connecting authors, educational institutions, and families. He noted that strong attendance showed the community's values. Reading and knowledge were seen as key drivers of development.
He also added, “The enthusiastic participation of students and families reinforced confidence. This ensured the continuation of this event as an annual platform dedicated to children’s culture, combining fun, learning, and creativity.”
The closing day featured creative and reading workshops that engaged children and families. Participants took part in interactive activities that sparked imagination and developed cognitive skills.
In the workshop titled “Ethics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” trainer Basmah Freihat highlighted the importance of teaching children the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies. She explained that AI should act as a learning aid, not a provider of ready-made answers. Basmah warned that depending too much on AI can weaken creative thinking. She emphasised directing AI toward benefiting society and charitable causes.
Author Anwar Al Salami led a storytelling workshop titled Al Kajouja and Umm Al-Duwais at the Dar Al Muheet pavilion. The story, drawn from Emirati folklore, instils moral values in children and cautions them against harmful behaviours. The program also featured a workshop titled Flowers of the Emirates: Beauty and Heritage, which introduced children to local plants and showcased the beauty of the Emirati environment. Diverse storytelling sessions enriched children’s minds with values and knowledge. Interactive colouring workshops fostered creativity. The Lost Book competition fostered research and critical thinking through entertaining, educational activities.
