The First High Criminal Court has begun hearing the case of a 26-year-old man accused of stealing a car by force after threatening the victim and stabbing him with a knife.

During the hearing, the defendant appeared in court and denied the charge of robbery by force, claiming that he had gone out with others and was arrested while sleeping in the back seat of the car. He also admitted that he had been intoxicated.

The court adjourned the case to March 17 to appoint a defense lawyer, while ordering the defendant to remain in custody.

According to the Public Prosecution, the incident dates back to October 2025, when the defendant allegedly stole a vehicle by force after brandishing a knife and stabbing the victim in the shoulder, forcing him to get out of the car. The suspect then fled with the vehicle. He was also found in a clear state of intoxication in a public place.

Case details show that the victim, a private driver, testified that while he was inside the car near an exchange company, the defendant approached him, threatened him with a knife, and stabbed him, forcing him to abandon the vehicle before the suspect drove away with it.

The victim later filed a report and identified the defendant as the perpetrator. He also confirmed that the knife seized from the suspect was the same weapon used in the incident.

Police records indicated that the stolen vehicle was later found in the defendant’s possession, with the knife inside it. A friend of the victim, who had been with him on the day of the incident, also stated that after returning from the exchange shop he could no longer find the vehicle they had arrived in.

Investigations further revealed that the defendant committed several other crimes using the stolen vehicle, including assaulting another person and stealing his wallet and mobile phone, as well as crashing into the complainant’s vehicle. The defendant had also previously been sentenced to six months in prison in another case.
