Pyongyang: North Korea has released images showing the test-firing of strategic cruise missiles from the naval destroyer Choe Hyon destroyer, according to state broadcaster Korean Central Television (KCTV).
State media reported that the launch was overseen remotely by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who watched the test via video footage alongside his teenage daughter Kim Ju Ae. She is widely viewed by analysts as a potential successor to the North Korean leader.
The missiles were launched from a newly developed 5,000-ton naval destroyer, highlighting Pyongyang’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its naval strike capabilities.
Images broadcast by KCTV showed the missiles being fired from the vessel as part of what state media described as a successful weapons test.
The missile launch comes as North Korea continues to expand its military capabilities, including the development of advanced missile systems and naval platforms.
