Bahrain Arrests Four for Spying with Iranian IRGC

The Ministry of Interior (Bahrain) announced that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has arrested four Bahraini nationals and identified a fifth suspect currently outside the country for their involvement in espionage activities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) through terrorist operatives based in Iran.

According to the ministry, the individuals arrested are Murtadha Hussain Awal (25), Ahmed Isa Al Haiki (34), Sarah Abdulnabi Marhoon (36), and Elias Salman Mirza (22). Authorities also identified Ali Mohammed Hassan Al Shaikh (25), who is currently at large abroad.

Investigations revealed that the first suspect, acting under organisational directives and with the assistance of others, used high-resolution photography equipment to capture images and record coordinates of several vital and strategic locations in Bahrain. The collected data was later transmitted to the IRGC using encrypted communication software.

The Ministry confirmed that legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects, and those arrested have been referred to the Public Prosecution to continue the legal process. Authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding national security and protecting vital infrastructure in the Kingdom. 🇧🇭
