In a significant development towards peace in Ukraine, discussions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marked a notable step forward, with both the United States and Ukraine making progress under the auspices of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s leadership.

Representatives from both nations acknowledged the Ukrainian people's steadfast resilience in defending their sovereignty and agreed on the importance of initiating a path toward a durable peace agreement.

Ukraine conveyed its readiness to accept a U.S.-proposed interim 30-day ceasefire, which could be extended upon mutual agreement and would require simultaneous acceptance and implementation by Russia. The United States has underscored to Russia the importance of reciprocal actions in achieving a peaceful resolution.

As part of the ongoing efforts, the U.S. has also confirmed the resumption of intelligence-sharing and security assistance for Ukraine. These developments are part of broader discussions that focused on crucial aspects of the peace process, including humanitarian aid, the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of detained civilians, and the return of Ukrainian children forcibly transferred during the conflict.

Both delegations have agreed to establish negotiating teams to begin formal peace talks aimed at ensuring Ukraine's long-term security. The United States reaffirmed its commitment to engaging with Russian representatives, while Ukraine stressed the inclusion of European partners in the peace process.

Additionally, the leaders agreed to finalize an agreement focused on the development of Ukraine’s critical mineral resources, reinforcing the economic foundations of the country as part of the peace framework.
