Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs Participates in Smart City Expo World Congress
Eng. Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress held in Barcelona from November 4 to 6, 2025.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona, the event brought together representatives from governments, municipalities, leading technology companies, infrastructure, transport, energy, and water sectors, alongside academic institutions and international organizations engaged in digital transformation, sustainable urban planning, and smart city management.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa emphasized that Bahrain’s participation in the congress represents an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with global companies and institutions and explore potential partnerships for future projects that support the Kingdom’s vision of developing smarter and more sustainable cities. He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to positioning itself among nations advancing modern and innovative urban systems.
This year’s edition was held under the theme “The Time for Cities”, underscoring the pivotal role of cities as engines of positive change and resilience in addressing global challenges such as rapid urbanization, climate change, and resource scarcity. The congress spotlighted the use of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data—to enhance public service efficiency and ensure infrastructure sustainability.
