Ettifaq stave off late Ettihad rally in handball league

Al Ettifaq posted a hardearned 28-24 victory over Al Ettihad last night in the concluding fixture of the opening week of action in the 2022/2023 Khalid bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League. The game was played at the Bahrain Handball Association Arena in Um Al Hassam. Ettifaq enjoyed a comfortable 14-9 lead at the end of the first half but Ettihad were able to narrow the gap to three goals in the game’s closing stages at 23-26.
It was a little too late, however, and Ettihad could not narrow the gap any further. Ettifaq clinched their season-opening result to join Al Shabab, Samaheej and defending champions Al Najma in the wins column on the league table. Ettihad joined Tadhamon, Tubli and Bahrain Club with a loss, while Al Ahli and Barbar had a stalemate in their clash. League action continues next week.
