Warm welcome for swimming team

Bahrain’s national swimming team were given a warm welcome on return from Doha after competing at the 25th GCC Water Games held recently.

They won 35 medals including seven gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze at the week-long event, organised by the Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) at the Hamad Aquatic Complex which brought together swimmers from all six GCC countries.

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, accompanied by Bahrain Swimming Association president Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and other top sports personnel, congratulated the team on this achievement.

He also conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad advisor for charity works and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Askar commended the efforts and the overall performance of the Bahraini swimmers in which some of the Gulf region’s best were in the fray.

Both Shaikh Mohammed and BSA vice-president Faisal Swar were pleased with the results of the team and noted the high spirit of the Bahraini swimmers during the competition.
