SLC beat Bahrain’s Al Najma Club in AWST
Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) defeated Bahrain’s Al Najma Club 73-56 in the final of the preliminary round of the basketball competition in the Third Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2016) which concludes today.
In other matches, Algerian Olympic Club beat UAE’s Bani Yas Club 63-51 and Jordan’s Orthodox Club edged out Egyptian Sporting Club 65-60 in a tightly contested match.
Lebanon’s Al Qalamoon Club won 3-0 against the Palestinian Ebdaa Club in the volleyball competition and Bahrain’s Al Muharraq Club beat the Jordanian Olympic Club 3-1. The group archery competition was won by Egypt won the gold medal, while the UAE took silver and Morocco the bronze medal.
In the individual archery competition, Egyptian Nada Mamdouh clinched the gold, UAE’s Emirati Noura Al Awadhi claimed the silver and Egyptian Aya Mamdouh the bronze.
The tournament is being held under the patronage of HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
