Rebensburg back to winning ways

Viktoria Rebensburg produced a superb second run to win the women's World Cup giant slalom in Flachau on Sunday.

The 26-year-old German was second after the first leg behind Slovenian upstart Ana Drev, but she was just 00.04secs in arrears and she had little difficulty in erasing that margin.

Rebensburg clocked an overall time of 2mins 29.51secs, which was nearly a second faster than Drev in second and Federica Brignone of Italy in third.

It was the 11th career World Cup win for Rebensburg and her first of the season.

"It was tough on the second run, but in the end I skied good and I will take the win," she said.

There was no change at the top of the overall World Cup standings as leader Lara Gut of Switzerland finished outside the points after nearly falling on the bottom section of the course.

But her nearest rival, Lindsey Vonn of the United States had already skied out on the second leg and she remains 38 points adrift of Gut who has 738 points.
