The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) is abuzz with excitement as the finale of the highly anticipated Devji-BKS GCC Kalotsavam 2024 approaches.

Scheduled to dazzle audiences on May 1, the event promises to be a grand celebration of talent, creativity, and cultural heritage.

Renowned as one of the most prestigious talent hunts for children in the GCC region, the ‘Kalotsavam’ provides a coveted platform for young talents to showcase their skills across various disciplines.

Originating as ‘Balakalotsavam’, the GCC ‘Kalotsavam’ has evolved over two decades to become a cornerstone event, featuring over 135 individual events across diverse age groups, as well as fifteen group events.

This year’s ‘Kalotsavam’ kicked off at the end of March with individual events and is currently in full swing with group competitions, captivating participants and spectators alike with its vibrant display of talent.

Led by the dedicated convener Noushad Cheriyil and supported by a team of over 100 volunteers, the ‘Kalotsavam’ has garnered praise for its exceptional standard of performances. With six expert judges flown in from India, specializing in classical dance and music, alongside local Bahraini judges, the event has showcased remarkable proficiency, particularly in classical dance forms such as ‘Bharathanatyam’ and ‘Kutchippidi’.

Festivities

While individual events were open exclusively to children of Indian origin, group events welcomed participants from diverse backgrounds, with over 600 students from 12+ schools enthusiastically participating in the festivities. The grand finale, set to take place at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall at 5PM on May 1st, promises to be a truly captivating event. Esteemed dignitaries including A. N. Shamseer, Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, and Pramod Narayanan, Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively, alongside Jayadeep Bharatji, Joint Managing Director of Devji Group of Companies.

Selected group event winners will have the opportunity to perform during the finale, with all prize winners across individual and group events to be felicitated during the evening.

Titles such as ‘Kalathilakam’, ‘Kalaprathibha’, ‘Balathilakam’, and ‘Balaprathibha’, as well as group championships and special recognitions, will be awarded to deserving participants.

As anticipation builds towards the finale, remaining group competitions including Western Dance, Patriotic Song, Group Song, ‘Oppana’, Mime, and Cinematic Dance are set to entertain audiences in the days leading up to the event.
