Three Bahraini MPs expressed their support for any proposals put forth by the joint parliamentary committee that aligns with the livelihood demands anticipated by the Bahraini people.

Dr. Mohammed Al Hussaini, Chairman of the Services Committee; Zainab Abdulameer, Chairwoman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee; and Hisham Al Awadhi, Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee in the Council of Representatives, emphasised that discussing citizens’ living conditions and government support programmes necessitates diligence, seriousness, and collaborative efforts to improve the living stability of Bahraini families with limited income.

They assert that the committee’s work is futile if support ceilings are not raised and the deserving recipients of aid are not expanded reasonably and acceptably to address the concerns and aspirations of the citizens.

In a joint statement, they clarified that their decision to withdraw from the joint committee between the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives regarding the reallocation of government subsidies does not undermine the significance of the committee’s work.

“Our intention is not to belittle the committee but rather to shed light on the issue concerning low-income individuals and families,” they said in the statement, stressing the need for relevant government entities to address this matter more seriously and with complete consensus from both councils. “Prolonging the committee’s work is not in the best interest of all parties involved,” they added.

The Office Bureau of the Parliament decided in its meeting yesterday to accept the resignation of the three members. Instead, three new members have been appointed, who are deputy chairpersons of the respective committees represented in the Joint Committee.

The newly appointed members are Eman Hassan Shuwaiter, Deputy Chair of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee; Lulwa Ali Al Rumaihi, Deputy Chair of the Services Committee; and Mohammed Mousa Al Beluchi, Deputy Chair of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee.
