Riffa, Muharraq play to stalemate

Title hopefuls Riffa and Muharraq played to a 1-1 stalemate in their week 14 match of the 2023/2024 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.

Sayed Mahdi Baqer opened the scoring for Riffa with a goal in the seventh minute. But then Felipe Saraiva de Souza Silva equalised for Muharraq with a penalty in the 70th minute, salvaging his team a crucial point.

With the result, Riffa regained their place atop the league standings with 28 points. They are now a point ahead of defending champions Al Khaldiya, while Muharraq stayed in third with 24 points. In another match, Manama posted a 2-0 win against East Riffa.

Ebrahim Al Khattal and Facundo Agustin Tobares were both on target for the victors within a 10-minute span in the second half. Al Khattal was first to strike in the 58th minute, and then Tobares added their second in the 68th. Manama claimed their fifth win in 14 outings and went to 19 points on the table, while East Riffa suffered their seventh loss and stayed on 15.

In another contest, Al Hala posted a convincing 4-2 triumph against Al Najma. Three players were on target for Hala in the win, including Haroon Al Zubaidi in the 31st, Mohammed Salem in the 86th and 91st minutes, and Ali Jamal in the 89th. For Najma, Edimar Ribeiro Da Costa Junior netted both their consolations, scoring in the second and 80th minutes. Hala went to 19 points with their sixth win, while Najma dropped their sixth game and stayed on 16.
