The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has announced the addition of two new services, the blood donation and athletes’ fitness certificates eServices, to the ‘Sehati’ app, which is available to download via the eGovernment Apps Store, bahrain.bh/apps.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Government hospitals.

The eServices will allow citizens and residents to register with blood donation banks, request blood donations, and view their history of blood donations.

In addition, users will receive notifications of urgent cases that require blood transfusion along with medical instructions.

With regards to the sports industry, athletes will also be able to view and download their medical certificates stamped by relevant health authorities to determine their fitness levels for competing in sports activities.

iGA Acting Chief Executive and Deputy CE of Electronic Transformation, Dr. Zakariya AlKhajah, said that the new eServices are in line with the iGA’s digital transformation strategy, focusing on mobile applications.

This includes enhancements to all government apps to meet individuals’ needs and improve their user experience.

The two new eServices streamline procedures, bolster the health sector’s offerings, and reduce government expenditure.

Improving healthcare

Government Hospitals Chief Executive, Dr. Mariam Al Jalahma, highlighted public hospitals’ commitment to improving the healthcare experience for citizens and residents in the Kingdom. She emphasised their enhanced role, through both direct and indirect platforms, to deliver top-tier services.

This initiative includes forming effective collaborations with both public and private entities to enhance Bahrain’s healthcare system.

These remarks were made during her announcement of two new services: Blood Donation and Athlete’s Fitness Certificate, available through the ‘Sehati’ app.

The launch is part of ongoing efforts to offer a variety of services in partnership with the iGA. She added that these services are instrumental in advancing the health sector’s offerings and that the focus on digital transformation is crucial for streamlining services and saving time for patients, ultimately alleviating the workload on government hospitals.

To avail of the new eServices, download the ‘Sehati’ app, select the relevant option from the main page using the Basic eKey single sign-on, and then view the required procedures.

Saving time and effort

In addition to the two new services, Blood Donation and Athlete Fitness Certificates, the app offers a range of eServices to assist the public in saving their time and effort, such as Find a Doctor in the specialisation they are looking for in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ask a Doctor, a list of medicines, appointment bookings with health centres and the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) pharmacy for home delivery, and the ability to view Salmaniya Medical Centre (SMC) and King Hamad University Hospital appointments.

The app also provides information and a list of pharmacies and health products in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a record of medical results, including blood tests and X-rays from SMC and King Hamad University Hospital, and a service allowing users to request or replace birth certificates. The ‘Sehati’ app can be downloaded via the eGovernment Apps Store at www.bahrain.bh/apps for iOS and Android.
