Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, has confirmed the ongoing efforts to develop and increase afforestation at the King Hamad Highway intersection.

The national afforestation plan has seen the planting of 350 trees in the first phase, with preparations underway to plant an additional 600 trees, bringing the target number to 950.

During a field tour of the King Hamad Intersection afforestation project, Al Mubarak was accompanied by Eng. Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, and other ministry officials.

Al Mubarak emphasised the ministry’s integrated plan to enhance greenery at intersections and public streets across Bahrain’s governorates. This plan aligns with the kingdom’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 and addressing climate change challenges.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture’s strategy focuses on beautifying main streets and intersections through tree planting and green spaces.
