A Bahraini driver was acquitted of manslaughter by the Lower Criminal Court for causing the death of a child. The man was driving when the youngster, who was playing football late at night, allegedly suddenly rushed towards the road.

The defendant allegedly slammed the brake pedal, but he failed to avoid hitting the boy, whose injuries were so severe that he died before reaching the hospital. The man was charged with causing the death.

However, his lawyer was able to prove that the defendant was not at fault because the youngster stepped into the road without paying attention, and it was too dark to see him.

The incident's technical report also said that the deceased youngster unknowingly took to the road without first looking to see if any vehicle was approaching.

"I was surprised to see a group of children emerge from behind the trees and enter the road suddenly." I tried hard not to hit them, and I hit the brakes.

"However, I bumped into the victim," the man admitted to prosecutors. According to investigations, there were no lights on the road, and the youngster was also wearing a black t-shirt, making it impossible for the driver to notice him while driving.
