The Election Day turned out to be a tough day for poll agents who were leaving no stone unturned to make sure that their candidate came with flying colours.

The day was a culmination of all the efforts they have exerted since the beginning of last month when their candidates declared their candidatures.

“It was really tough. But I loved the journey as an agent for my candidate Barea Faraj,” said Salman Mohammed, a Bahraini in his early twenties.

He said he is really proud to be part of the democratic process. “By being a poll agent, we are doing our duty towards the nation. We have been spearheading the campaign for our candidate by forming various teams.

“We grouped ourselves into social media teams, door-to-door campaign teams and strategic planning teams to facilitate the right communication of campaign agenda.”

Mr Salman said he was motivated to support Ms Faraj owing to her extensive experience with the Ministry of Education.

“Our candidate has been serving the Ministry of Education for over 25 years and this matters a lot to us youth.

She can formulate the right education policies that will be beneficial for the youth.

“We have a very young team of volunteers as we understand that education is the best way to grow,” he added.

The poll agents were yesterday seen engaging in last-minute efforts to ensure that their candidate emerges victorious.

Jassim, another poll agent, said he was waiting for this day to perform the task of polling agent.

“It has been really interesting and amazing to be part of the campaign team as we are delivering our democratic duties.”
