Applied Science University’s ‘academic excellence’ success

For the fifth year in a row, Applied Science University continued to rise in the QS World University Rankings of the (Arab Region) universities, achieving the 19th position in the Arab world, and becoming one of the top 20 Arab universities for the year 2023 out of 199 universities, and as No.1 in Bahrain.

The QS Ranking is considered one of the three most significant rankings of universities worldwide. The QS ranking showed the University’s excellence for the fifth consecutive year, moving up the rankings from 45th place in 2019 to 37th place in 2020, 29th place in 2021, 22nd place in 2022, and finally 19th in the ranking for 2023.

On this occasion, Professor Waheeb Al-Khaja, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, congratulated Professor Ghassan Aouad, President of the University, all the University’s members, and the Board of Trustees members on this accomplishment, indicating that the University is determined to develop its academic system and standards, improve performance, and increase the outputs that provide the Kingdom’s government and private sectors, as well as the foreign labour market with highly qualified graduates.

The University’s academic and administrative members also praised the efforts made to promote the University’s reputation locally and in the Arab world, noting that this achievement confirms the excellence of Bahraini Universities, referring to the efforts made by the Higher Education Council (HEC), which also has a positive impact on the entire educational outcomes of the University.

Professor Aouad congratulated both the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Samir Nass, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Al-Khaja, and all the members of the Board of Directors and Trustees for this accomplishment, noting that the classification of the University at this prestigious level is the result of collaborative work with its Arab and international partners.

Thanking the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Council, the Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council, and the Education and Training Quality Authority for their efforts.

Dr Mohammed Youssif, Vice President for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, expressed his pride in the University being ranked in 19th place in the Arab region. He noted that this achievement comes within the framework of the University’s vision to move forward in excellence in higher education and within the University’s efforts to enhance its position among Arab and international universities.

With this new accomplishment, Applied Science University has completed a remarkable 18 years of excellence in a variety of academic and scientific fields. The University also obtained International Accreditation from the British Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) to become one of the 13 institutions of higher education in the world and the first university in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which obtains this accreditation.

In addition to the University’s ranking 561-570 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2023, and is ranked among the top 150 universities under 50 years old in the world for the year 2021, as well as achieving the top 550 universities in the world in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings for the year 2022, and ranked 3rd in the Kingdom of Bahrain and among the world’s top 5000 universities in the Green Metric World University Rankings for 2022, and ranked 101-150 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 with Best Performance in Art & Design.

This year, the University succeeded in ranking 201+ in The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022, It also ranked 459 in the Green Matrix Global Ranking for the year 202 globally.
