The Forum of Young Global Leaders, an initiative by the World Economic Forum, selected Hamad Al Mahmeed, the undersecretary for Research & Strategic Studies at the Prime Minister's Office, as a member of the Young Global Leaders Class of 2022.

The forum goes through an annual rigorous selection process to identify, select, and commemorate exceptional leaders under 40 years with outstanding professional work experience and a personal commitment to serve society at local and global levels.

Hamad Al Mahmeed, the youngest undersecretary in Bahrain’s government, was recognized for his excellent leadership. He led and managed the COVID command and control centre responsible for all COVID-related operations, resulting in a record number of free testing, treatment, and vaccination for all residents, an achievement recognized by the World Health Organisation.

Hamad also implemented one of the first drive-through testing facilities in the world. Driven by his passion for social and economic development, he was the founder and first curator of the Global Shapers community in Bahrain through which he spearheaded the first mentorship portal for the Kingdom. Hamad is also a former member of the Bahrain National Sailing Team.

Hamad’s achievements are examples showcasing Bahrain’s highly skilled workforce and exceptional talent, which have always been a competitive advantage for the Kingdom.

The Forum of Young Global Leaders is an accelerator for a dynamic community of exceptional people with the vision, courage, and influence to drive positive change in the world. Aligned with the World Economic Forum’s mission, the Young Global Leaders seeks to drive public-private cooperation in the global public interest.
