Hubby steals wife’s belongings, gets jail
The High Criminal Appeals Court upheld the three month jail term issued earlier against a Bahraini man convicted of robbing his wife’s belongings during her time in jail. The woman, of Asian origin, had been serving four months in prison in connection with an unidentified case. Meanwhile, her husband exploited her absence by stealing her jewellery and electronic devices, including a TV, DVD video camera and a satellite receiver, according to court files.
The man is said to have also stolen the woman’s ATM card, by which he withdrew BD5400 from her bank account. The woman had earlier waived her right to prosecute the defendant, but the High Criminal Court sent him to three months behind bars.
