Minister foresees GCC union soon

Information and Parliament Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi praised the directives of the GCC leaders to boost economic, security and military cooperation and activate steps towards the GCC union.

He was speaking in the 14th meeting of the Ministerial committee in charge of following up the implementation of resolutions pertaining to joint GCC work here in the GCC Secretariat General headquarters yesterday.

The Minister had led Bahrain’s delegation to the meeting.
The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Saudi Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet for Shura Council Affairs Mohammed bin Faisal Abusaq, in the presence of GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

Al Hammadi stressed that the GCC union was just a matter of time in the presence of all needed fundamentals for it, including historical, cultural, geographic and civilisational bonds as well as religion, language, kinship and common destiny.

He added that the Gulf Cooperation Council had become, since its inception in 1981, one of the most powerful economic, political and regional blocs.

He pointed out the implementation of many resolutions to boost the GCC citizenship, common market, monetary union as well as security and military partnership.

The Minister took pride in participating in the GCC Ministerial committee meeting, lauding the implementation of more than 90 per cent of the resolutions of the Supreme and Ministerial Councils.

He also added that work was underway to carry out the remaining resolutions by removing obstacles and taking the necessary procedures in coordination with relevant parties.
