Bahrain has affirmed its support for the unremitting efforts exerted by Libya to lay the foundations of security, stability, and peace in all parts of the country.

This came as Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani held yesterday official discussions with the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Najla El Mangoush, during her visit to the Kingdom.

Dr Al Zayani said that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who also received Dr El Mangoush, stressed the importance of taking steps to support stability in Libya and the exit of foreign forces, in order to preserve Libya’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

HM the King also support the peaceful holding of the presidential and parliamentary elections to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people for development and prosperity.

Minister Al Zayani affirmed that His Majesty has expressed his confidence in the ability of the Libyan people to overcome all current challenges.

Al Zayani held a lengthy discussions session with his Libyan counterpart during which strong bilateral brotherly relations and ways of enhancing them were discussed.

He said the need to continue the exchange of visits between senior officials and official delegations between the two countries and the importance of coordination in international and regional forums on issues of common concern was stressed.

Dr Al Zayani also pointed out the need to adopt effective mechanisms to follow up on areas of joint bilateral cooperation to achieve constructive results that enhance cooperation relations between the two countries.

The meeting also shed light on political and security developments in Libya, and the efforts made by the Libyan Government of National Unity, the United Nations, and the supporting countries to reach a political solution to the situation in Libya that preserves the sovereignty, independence, and stability of the country, stops interference in its internal affairs and leads to holding the presidential and parliamentary elections on their scheduled date.
