21,395 illiterates in Bahrain

There are 21,395 illiterates in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including 15,000 Bahrainis, according to recent figures released by the Information and eGovernment Authority.
The illiterate Bahrainis represent 1.8% of the population.
As per the statistics, the secondary-school certificate is the common academic qualification in the Kingdom with 428,000 having only secondary school diploma, followed by bachelor degree achieved by 209,3000.
Meanwhile, foreigners who hold Master’s degrees exceed the Bahrainis by 10,000, while only 1,354 Bahrainis hold PhD, most of whom are men.
