HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa opens integrated water complex

An integrated water complex was opened today in the Al Jazayer beach. His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) opened the project.

The opening ceremony was attended by Royal Life Saving Bahrain Chairperson Shaikha Najla bint Hamad bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, BOC Secretary-General Mohammed Hassan Al Nusuf and Edamah CEO Amin Al Arayyed.

Bahrain Swimming Association Chairman Mohammed Mejbal and Bahrain Triathlon Federation Chief Abdulla Abdulsalam also attended the opening ceremony.
 
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa cut the ribbon signalling the opening of the project and toured the milestone which includes an Olympic swimming pool, a semi-Olympic pool and other facilities.
 
He was briefed about various facilities and services in the water complex, in addition to the method of building the project, which was carried out using tools and parts that can be assembled and transported, totalling 2,613 pieces.
 
He then attended a girls 'swimming race, which was held at the semi-Olympic pool with the participation of 8 swimmers, followed by the boys' race at the Olympic pool which featured 8 participants, marking the official launch of the two swimming pools.
 
He stressed the importance of this vital sports project, the first of its kind in Bahrain, in line with the vision of His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to transform sports into a professional industry.
 
He praised the water complex, which constitutes a qualitative leap in the Kingdom, stressing its positive repercussions on swimming in particular and all water sports in general to enhance Bahrain's reputation in the regional and international sports arena.
 
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad thanked  Edamah company for providing the space for the project to be set up by the Olympic Committee, appreciating the cooperation of Edamah company and its active contribution to the completion of the project.
 
Mumtalakat Chief ExecutiVe Officer, Edamah Chairman Khalid Al Romaihi took pride in participating in the water complex project in cooperation with the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
