Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) president Shaikha Mai bint Muhammad Al Khalifa has issued a decision regarding the registration of a historical site known as Al Sayah Island on the National Heritage List.

The site is a rocky island formed as a result of the fossilisation of coral reefs, in which there is a circular gap with a diameter of about six metres that includes a freshwater spring known as Ein Al Sayah.

The island includes remnants of huge walls on its floor indicating the existence of a huge building, perhaps a castle or a military tower.

The decision stipulated that “the Survey and Land Registration Bureau is notified for its indication in the Land Registry, as well as the property owner.

The director of the Department of Antiquities and Museums shall implement the provisions of the decision and enforce it from the day following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
