Indian School Bahrain honour students for excellent academic performance

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) organized a virtual academic award ceremony to honour students who topped India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)’s class 10 and 12 examination 2020.

Around 78 toppers and high achievers of class 10 and 12 were honoured virtually with medals, plaques and A1 grade certificates for their excellent academic performance in previous academic year.

The ceremony was held online as part of COVID-19 protocol. Around 241 prizes were also distributed. Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava was the chief guest.  
Also in attendance were ISB chairman Prince S Natarajan, secretary Saji Antony, executive committee members Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Premalatha NS, Binu Mannil Varughese, Saji George, Deepak Gopalakrishnan, Mohammad Nayaz Ullah, Rajesh Nambiar, Isa Town campus Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa campus Principal Pamela Xavier, vice-principals and headteachers. The gold medalists include Class 12 school toppers Shree Arthi Govindaraju (98.4pc), Reelu Reji (98pc), Keyur Ganesh Chaudhari (97.8pc) and Class 10 school toppers Nandana Subha Vinu Kumar (98.6pc), Nayana Chandran Puravankara (97.8pc) and Gautham Anaimallur Janardhanan (97.6pc).

On behalf of the winners, headteachers Reji Varughese and Jose Thomas collected the awards and trophies from school officials.

In his inaugural address online, Ambassador Srivastava praised the excellent academic performance of the students and the hard work and dedication of staff. “The Indian School has been keeping their tradition of excellence. The school’s achievements are mind-blogging and the school is providing all-encompassing education to students besides academic brilliance which makes them global citizens,” he added.

Quoting Greek philosopher Plutarch, the Ambassador said, “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled,” as he urged everyone to ponder upon the inspiring saying.
