141,000 textbooks given to Bahrain private schools

The Education Ministry handed over more than 141,000 textbooks on four mandatory national subjects to private schools in the Kingdom, said a top Ministry official.

The books are on the Arabic language, Islamic education, Hstory and Geography of Bahrain, and citizenship education, Professor Amal Al Kaabi, Acting Director of the Private Education Department at the Ministry of Education said.

“These books are for public and private school students alike,” the official said adding, some of the private schools have requested more copies of the books.

The Ministry, she said, has approved the purchase, and ensured that the books reach students at the set cost.

Al Kaabi said the authority has also kept open an option for parents to buy the new books or use the free books provided by them.

Some of the books thus provided are new, while others are old, the Acting Director said.

In a statement, the Education Ministry also called on private schools in the Kingdom to observe health guidelines strictly when distributing textbooks to students there.
