ICRF continues summer donation drive to workers

TDT | Manama

The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) distributed bottled water, fruits and lunch boxes of biriyani to more than 400 workers, as part of the Indian Independence Day celebrations. This was the sixth of a series of donations and it was held at the American International School worksite near Sanad.

ICRF volunteers also distributed face masks and anti-bacterial soaps, along with flyers that explain health measures that must be followed to stay safe during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. The basic purpose of such an activity is to inform workers on the importance of drinking water and encourage them on ways to protect their health during the summer.

An ICRF Thirst-Quenchers team intends to continue this weekly event until the end of August in various worksites as these workers are among those most affected, toiling under the summer sun. ICRF chairman Aruldas Thomas, ICRF general secretary John Philip, ICRF Thirst Quenchers convenor Sudheer Thirunilath, and ICRF volunteers Muralikrishnan, Sunil Kumar, Pavithran Neeleswaram and Zulfiqar Ali, along with Bohra Community members Shabbir Lakdawala, Ali Aamir Kothawala, Dawood Fakhruddin, Ebrahim Pitalwala and Ebrahim Akbar were also present at the donation drive.
