Al Ajmi honoured with prestigious award

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in London has awarded Husain Al Ajmi with the Allan Bridgewater Award for Excellence, which is the top honour amongst the CII awards. Al Ajmi becomes the first winner ever of this prestigious award globally.

The CII has designated the award to celebrate inclusivity within the insurance profession, considering those demonstrating a lasting impact within the profession nationally as well as globally. For three decades, Al Ajmi has had outstanding relentless contributions to the industry, expanding the profession whilst enhancing its standards nationally and in the MENA region.

“Mr Al Ajmi has been a mentor for many working in the insurance profession in the Middle East and was instrumental in developing insurance education and training for the region,” the CII stated. Al Ajmi commented: “It is an honour to be the recipient of the prestigious Allan Bridgewater Award for Excellence.

It was my mission to contribute towards raising of standards of the insurance industry within the Arab world. “I am pleased to dedicate this award to the Central Bank of Bahrain for their continued support. I would also like to thank the CII and its awards panel for their trust and recognition of my contributions to the enhancement of the training and development of the insurance and risk-management professions.”

Al Ajmi has unique experience in the insurance and risk-management industry. He has translated, authored, and co-authored over 40 course materials and textbooks in the area of insurance and risk management for the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) and the CII, in addition to other US-based global organisations including AHIP, LOMA and The Institutes.

Al Ajmi is currently the Foundation for Insurance and Finance Education CEO, and before that was the BIBF Insurance Learning Centre assistant director and head. He is a visiting lecturer in several universities, including the University of Memphis in the US.
