The Director General of the Capital Municipality, Eng. Mohammed Saad Al-Sahli, has paid a field visit to the site earmarked for the construction of the largest football stadium in the Capital Governorate, located in Sitra.

He was accompanied by MP Jalila Al-Sayed Alawi, Member of the Council of Representatives, and Ahmed Khalil, Director of Health, Safety and Environment for the Bapco Refinery Modernization Project, along with a number of officials from Bapco Refining Company, a subsidiary of Bapco Energy — the integrated energy group spearheading Bahrain’s energy transformation.

The project is among the key development initiatives for residents, aimed at delivering a qualitative leap in public facilities dedicated to community sports.

Quality of life
Eng. Al-Sahli stressed that the project aligns with the Capital Municipality’s vision to establish community and sports infrastructure that enhances quality of life and provides youth with a safe, well-equipped environment to practice sports.

He praised the partnership with Bapco Energy Group for its active role in supporting the project and advancing its community objectives to nurture young talents, make productive use of their time, and develop their skills.

Spanning 8,184 square meters, the Sitra stadium will feature a football field built to the highest approved specifications with premium artificial turf.

MP Alawi expressed pride in the launch of this vital project, describing it as a direct response to residents’ needs and a reflection of constructive cooperation between the legislative and executive branches and the private sector.

She noted that the modern, standards-compliant stadium will boost sporting activities in the region, offering young people a safe and suitable space to nurture their abilities. The facilities will include changing rooms, parking areas, pedestrian walkways, and landscaped green spaces to enhance the site’s visual appeal and environmental quality.
