Only 51 housing applications are pending in Hoora, some lodged more than 20 years ago, and MP Mohammed Janahi has urged the Housing Ministry to launch the area’s long-discussed housing project without delay.

He said the file is one he has followed closely, with requests from 2003, 2004, and 2006 still on the books.

The situation, he added, shows the extent to which residents in this part of the capital have waited for a solution.

Janahi argued that the modest scale of demand makes it possible to address the matter quickly if the ministry places it among its immediate priorities.

Pressure
He said such a move would ease pressure on families facing poor housing conditions and offer them the stability they have sought for years.

His proposal calls for the use of two plots of land near Beit Al Qur’an on Road 1901, to be built as either individual units or apartment blocks to clear the outstanding list.

“The modest scale of demand makes it possible to address the matter quickly if the ministry places it among its immediate priorities.”

The lawmaker also said housing projects in Manama should be planned fairly, with the capital given its rightful place in Bahrain’s housing development plans.
