The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) has announced the launch of its annual summer training programme for this year, titled Taaleq, targeting science majors from various universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain who are interested in the study of pearls and gemstones.
This comes as part of its social responsibility and commitment to investing in human capital in the field of pearls and gemstones, to prepare and qualify national talent to lead the sector in the future.
The two-month training programme offers participants intensive practical experience at DANAT’s laboratory to familiarise them with the work of gemstone laboratories.
It trains them in the use of modern technology to analyse and identify gemstones and determine their suitability for use in the jewellery industry, in addition to the latest global techniques available at DANAT’s laboratory for pearl inspection.
This enables trainees to acquire advanced skills and best practices in marine biology and environmental sustainability.
Noora Jamsheer, Chief Executive Officer of DANAT, said: “We are pleased to launch the Taaleq summer training programme as an essential part of our vision to build a new generation of national professionals specialised in the science of pearls and gemstones, empowering Bahraini youth, enhancing their abilities and skills, and introducing them to the professional and career opportunities available in various fields related to pearls and gemstones.”
She added that the programme offers STEM students intensive practical training in advanced laboratories, enabling them to work in the jewellery and gemstone industry and to participate in real scientific research.
