Premier’s Court reviews progress on projects

In line with the vision of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who has always stressed that the welfare of citizens is the ultimate goal of the government, and that efforts are focused towards achieving the best for them, the Prime Minister’s Court continued its follow up on the achievement of several developmental and service projects in various governorates, including housing, health, municipalities and other services that are directly related to citizens.  

In this regard, Essam Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, held a meeting at the Court of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, during which he reviewed the progress of the implementation of programmes and projects that HRH Premier had previously ordered to be completed as soon as possible.

The meeting reviewed the pace of implementation of these projects and what has been accomplished on the ground, including the “Saada Project” in Muharraq Governorate, which has been given a great deal of follow-up and attention by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister as one of the strategic projects to be implemented in the Muharraq Governorate. The “Saada Project” consists of two stages with the first one (the Western Side), which is expected to be completed by the end of November this year, while the consultants have been appointed for the second phase of the project (the eastern side).

The project will include a multi-storey car park and a popular market in the old market style. The project, which includes a pedestrian bridge, sea coast, a marina for boats and walkway dedicated area for restaurants and cafes, will be built on the site that is currently occupied by Muharraq Post Office. The establishment of the Khalifa City Health Centre”, which the ministries of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and Health were directed by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister to establish as a model health centre with state - of - the art medical and therapeutic equipment, was also discussed during the meeting.

The implementation of the two- storey centre, to be built over a 17.244 square –metre piece of land and which will have a building area of about 10.445 square metres is expected to begin this month. It will contain a number of departments including: medical consultations and services, a pharmacy, a radiology unit, a lab, an emergency unit, oral and dental health, child and maternity care units, in addition to reception and health records.

The meeting also addressed the Al-Dour area, which HRH Premier directed officials concerned for its rapid establishment due to HRH’s belief in the importance of social facilities in enhancing values of communication in the community. The design work has been completed and the process of implementation started. The two halls meant for social men and women’s events are designed in the Bahraini architecture style and equipped with all service and technological facilities.

Also in line with the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, 24 per cent of the construction works has been completed of the Multiple Sclerosis Centre (MS) in Muharraq and the building is expected to be entirely finalised by July 2021. It consists of seven consultancy clinics, a laboratory, an MRI department, a daily care unit, a physiotherapy department and another for manual therapy, in addition to two external and internal pharmacies, a research centre, a lecture hall and medical warehouses.
