Bahrain celebrates 73rd Indian Independence Day

India’s 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with fervour all across the Kingdom with Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha kick-starting the activities by hoisting the national flag at a ceremony held at Indian Embassy in Seef.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day message was read by the Ambassador in the presence of community members and guests, following the recitation of the national anthem.

Joining hands in the celebrations were various schools and socio-cultural organisations all across the Kingdom. At a ceremony held at the Indian School, President PV Radhakrishna Pillai hoisted the national flag. Cultural and entertainment activities were held yesterday evening as part of the celebrations. Activities at Syro Malabar society started with president Charles Alukka hoisting the tricolour.

Former presidents PP Chakkunny and Francis Kaitharath, General secretary James Mathew, Vice-President Thomas and guests were present. The highlight was a special programme “Swathanthryam Tanne Amrutham’ presented by over a hundred students.  Chairman Govindan and Secretary began celebrations at Sree Narayana Cultural society by hoisting the tricolour. Board members were present.

At Gurudeva Social society, acting Chairman Josekumar and general secretary Rajesh Kaniyamparambil hoisted the national flag.  Board members and family members were present.  President Santhosh Kumar hoisted the tricolour at a ceremony held at Kerala Social and Cultural Association. Executive committee members and women’s forum members took part.
