HUNT STARTS
Manama
The Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan inspected yesterday the scene of the terrorist blast that occurred on August 25 near Abdulrahman Al Nasser School in Muharraq.
The explosion occurred while the police were disposing of another suspicious device. No injuries or damages reported. Al Hassan said that an investigation was immediately launched to identify the culprits. “Those who commit crimes of this sort will face the full weight of the law in court.”
The Chief called upon anyone with information concerning the blast to go to the nearest police directorate or station or call 80008008. He ordered a greater deployment of police resources in the area, including security checkpoints in some areas.
Al Hassan reiterated that the police force was fully committed to its mission to provide a stable and safe environment for all residents and businesses in Bahrain.
As DT News reported yesterday, an explosion occurred in Muharraq on Monday night, while police were handling a suspicious object that was placed near a school. Interior Ministry confirmed that no injuries or damage were reported. However, eyewitnesses informed that a civilian vehicle was slightly damaged. This came three days after a similar incident occurred a few kilometres away, near another school.
Since the sad events of 2011, terrorism and vandalism cases have increased in many parts of the Kingdom, mostly villages. However, Muharraq was hardly ever affected by such incidents. The old island is known for the strong social bonds of its residents.
Meanwhile, a suspicious cloth that was kept inside an ATM booth in Kazino area in Muharraq yesterday left the public in jitters. Later, it was revealed that it was only an Abaya (black-coloured Muslim lady’s dress) discarded by a client.
