Attest or get out!

A good number of expatriate teachers in the Kingdom stand a chance to lose their jobs with the Education Ministry strictly enforcing attestation of professional qualification certificates.

As per the new ruling, all existing as well as aspiring expatriate teachers should get their certificates attested by the Foreign Ministries of respective countries. It is learnt that almost all schools have sent circular to teachers in this regard.

According to sources, the certificates after being attested by the respective Foreign Ministries, should carry the stamp of embassies as well as the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry.

The move aims to avoid unqualified men and women taking up teaching jobs owing to excess demand from schools, sources added.

However, teachers from 16 countries, which has apostle agreement with the Kingdom only need to get their certificates attested by the Foreign Ministries.

“All teachers including pre-primary, primary and high school must get their certificates attested. Since it is difficult and an expensive affair for teachers to travel to their home countries, they are depending on agencies, which charge between BD30 and BD50 for the process,” sources said.
