Crown Prince to attend GCC-US Summit in Camp David on Thursday

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa said that the Kingdom of Bahrain was keen to strengthen its deep-rooted ties of friendship with the United States at all levels. He said that the decision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to deputise His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to participate in the GCC-US Summit to be held in Camp David on Thursday along with the leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States and US President Barack Obama is due to a prior engagement of HM the King in the United Kingdom. 

The Foreign Minister stressed that the participation of HRH Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa showed His Majesty’s keenness to ensure that the Kingdom of Bahrain was fully engaged in participating in this historic summit.

The Minister said that Prince Salman was the ideal representative of HM the King at the summit to present the views and discuss means of further cooperation to address the current developments in the region.

Expressing his hope for a successful Camp David Summit, he commented: “The summit further develops the strategic ties and relations in various fields between the GCC and the US for the benefit of all states and people in the region. It will help secure a more prosperous future for all.”
