Bahrain Reinforces Youth Role in Shaping Its Future

Investing in Bahraini youth remains a cornerstone of national development and a decisive factor in shaping a more prosperous future, according to Dr Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD).

Dr Al Rumaihi said empowering young Bahrainis aligns directly with the Royal vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which places youth at the heart of Bahrain’s ongoing progress and reform journey. He stressed that building capable, informed and engaged generations is essential to sustaining the Kingdom’s development momentum.

Since its establishment, the institute has prioritised training and capacity-building for Bahraini youth through a diverse range of programmes and initiatives. These efforts, he noted, have contributed to strengthening national political awareness and encouraging meaningful political participation that supports informed decision-making.

His remarks came at the conclusion of the third edition of the Future Bet programme, an initiative designed to prepare a politically aware parliamentary-minded youth generation. The programme provides participants with practical exposure to decision-making and legislative environments, enabling them to engage directly with officials through structured dialogue and develop their skills within an interactive learning framework grounded in constitutional principles and national values.

Dr Al Rumaihi expressed his appreciation to Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, for his continued support of the institute’s programmes as part of a strategic partnership aimed at nurturing youth engagement. He also commended the cooperation of Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, for supporting the programme’s third phase and facilitating the successful parliamentary simulation session.

He further extended his gratitude to ministers and senior officials who took part in the programme, noting that their participation played a pivotal role in its success. Their presence, he said, offered participants a valuable opportunity to raise questions, exchange views and discuss national issues directly with decision-makers.

The Future Bet programme seeks to deepen national awareness, reinforce Bahrain’s constitutional and reform-oriented approach, and enhance participants’ understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals in connection with the Kingdom’s economic vision. It also focuses on developing leadership skills, strengthening teamwork, fostering initiative and cultivating a culture of dialogue and responsibility.

The programme concluded with the recognition of participating youth in appreciation of their commitment, engagement and distinguished performance throughout its duration, underscoring their promising role in supporting Bahrain’s national journey and contributing actively to public life.
