Body of football coach to be flown back today

ManamaThe body of a football coach, who had ended his life in Bahrain, will be repatriated back to his home country today.

“The body of Thilakan will be repatriated back to his home country by Air India flight,” a source told DT News.

It was also confirmed to DT news that his family have been informed about the development.

Thilakan, an Indian national, who worked as a football coach for the Indian Talent Academy, was missing since February 4, 2018. He reportedly went to the Manama market to buy jerseys. After that, there was no sign of him. Weeks later, he was found dead at the Hidd bridge.

As per the post-mortem report, his death resulted from a cardiac pulmonary arrest due to suicidal hanging. Records say, his death occurred on February 22.

A grieving Vyshak Thilakan told DT News, “This comes to us as a shock that the reason of death was due to suicidal hanging as there was no reason at all for him to do that.”

“We asked the sponsor for details but we still haven’t got an update.

“We have also requested the Embassy of India to Bahrain for details to find out what would have gone wrong,” he said.
