Al Zilzal on the verge of qualification

Manama : Al Zilzal are near to qualifying for the quarter finals of the Nasser 10 Ramadan Football Tournament  following a 4-2 Group 2 victory against Al Husan Al Aswad 4-2 at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.

Alaa Hubail put the winners ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute, but their lead was short-lived as Mohammed Al Khalaifa equalised six minutes later,  while Abdullah Al Shajar restored Al Zilzal’s lead in the 28th minute and Syrian player Esra Amer extended it after the break. Al Khalaifa reduced the deficit with 10 minutes to go. However, Al Zilzal’s Mohammed Adam ended the opposition’s hopes to level the score by converting a penalty in the 82nd.  Al Zilzal have now four points from two games.  

Meanwhile, the first grand draw was held for one of the 10 cars within the package that HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King  for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee directed to be given to the audience attending the football matches of the Nasser 10 Tournament, with the sponsorship of Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo and Majestic Cars. The first lucky winner was Yaseen Al-Hijazi.

Al-Hijazi has been keen to attend the football matches to stand by his team in the tournament which is highly followed by football fans. After winning the car Al-Hijazi said, “I thank Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his generosity and great gifts to the audience attending the games of the tournament. His Highness has painted a smile on the lips of all the audience by announcing the allocation of 10 cars for them.”

The draw for the cars will continue with the second draw on Thursday,  where car will be allocated to one winner, provided they are present at the stadium at the time of the draw.

Qualifiers for the quarter-finals will be known today in Group 3, with Al Nawayef (six points) leading the group and face Al Saqr Al Abyadh (3) at 9pm who are bottom of the group with Al Nawayef needing one point to progress.

In the second game in the same group, winless Forever (0) will face Al Wehda (3) after two matches as Forever tipped among the favourites to win this year’s edition lost twice in a dramatic fashion to drop to the bottom of the group. 

Aside from Forever, Group 1’s Suqour Al Bahrain and defending champions Victorious have shown their real value to this point, while Batelco Gunners United proved themselves to be listed among the favourites to win the tournament.
