Bahrain to host ‘DTAC 2017’

ManamaUnder the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of HH the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Isa bin Salman Educational and Charity Fund Board of Trustees, the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the District 20 Toastmasters Annual Conference (DTAC 2017). 

The conference will be held under the theme ‘Towards Excellence’, from May 18-20, at the Gulf Convention Centre of the Gulf Hotel.

The Chairman of the conference, Toastmaster Ali Alraies,  expressed his thanks to HH  Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, on behalf of all the members of District 20, stating that His Highness’ involvement will add another dimension and no doubt contribute in the enrichment and success of the conference, which is expected to see the participation of more than 800 delegates.

District 20 Director Ali Shahbaz Ali expressed the District’s appreciation for His Highness’ continued patronage, which will undoubtedly add an extra level of competition between contestants.  Ali Shahbaz Ali added that the first-place winner will be selected to compete at the Public Speaking World Championship, which is due to take place later this year in Canada.

Toastmasters International is a global leader in the fields of public speaking and leadership. Its mission is “to empower individuals to become effective communicators and leaders”. Its programmes serve all sections of society, including youngsters, to develop communication and leadership skills.

District 20 of Toastmasters International has around 19,000 active members from 375 clubs, in seven countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon and Jordan.

The District 20 Toastmasters Annual Conference “DTAC 2017” is a 3-day annual event organised by each member state on rotation. 

This year, the Kingdom of Bahrain has opted to hold this important event. During the event, several champions from each country display their talents in public speaking and compete in four contests both in Arabic and English across four categories. 

The event also includes several workshops conducted by internationally renowned speakers, a keynote speech and a Gala dinner.
