Students awarded UCB scholarships

ManamaA chorus of cheers repeatedly echoed across the Indian School auditorium the other day as the brightest students walked to the stage to receive their scholarships at the award ceremony of the University College of Bahrain Scholarship programme 2017.

The celebrations reached a high pitch as ten students from grade XII of Indian School received 100 per cent scholarship from the University College of Bahrain (UCB). The scholarship test programme, one of the several initiatives by UCB in the field of education, was conducted in January. About 700 students of grade XII   from various Indian Schools in Bahrain took the test.

UCB Founder & Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa presented the awards.

In his opening speech, Dr. Shaikh Khalid  said the  scholarship test concept was developed by him  to give the Indian students a choice to select Bahrain as an education destination.

“I have always wanted to do something for the Indians in Bahrain, and the idea of scholarship came out as a better option. You have grown here in this beautiful country, spent time to pursue your education, so why not pursue your higher studies in Bahrain”, he asked. He further added that the UCB would offer visas to those students who received their scholarship and provide internship opportunities  that will help them during their final placement.
