BIHR to participate in Culinary Olympiad
Manama : Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR), a part of the A. Dadabai Group, will be representing Bahrain for the second time in the World’s Biggest Olympiad for Culinary students – Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) in India.
Maher Jaber AbdulRasool, a Bahrain national, will represent the Kingdom and BIHR along with BIHR’s Bahraini Executive Chef Farah Fikri as mentor chef. Rasool is currently studying Swiss HTMi Diploma in Hospitality programme.
Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) is the main sponsor of the event whereas Alosra supermarket is the platinum sponsor.
The third Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) is organised by International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), India and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
YCO 2017, which concludes on 3rd February 2017, is playing host to over 100 countries including Bahrain, spread across six days in four Indian cities- New Delhi, Pune, Bangalore.
The grand finale will take place in Kolkata, where best culinary ambassadors from around the world demonstrate the creative and innovative aspects from their cultures and countries from 100 hotel schools under one roof.
“It is BIHR’s vision to promote Bahrain and our nationals on an International platform, thereby to showcase the talent and calibre of our young budding professionals,” Hatim Dadabai, BIHR’s Managing Director said.
“We strive to encourage young Bahraini talent in the field of gastronomy, hospitality and tourism, said Nigel Viegas, BIHR’s Director.
BIHR also offers 100pc scholarships for Bahraini nationals who wish to pursue a career in the Hospitality and Tourism sector in line with Bahrain’s vision 2030.
Meanwhile HTMi Bahrain Campus has opened admissions to its Certificate and Diploma in Hospitality programmes. Registrations are also open for shorter culinary programmes.
