Fraud: Sentence upheld
Manama
A 36-year-old Asian national convicted of fraud had his three- month sentence upheld.
The accused reportedly gave his friend a dud cheque worth BD10,000.
The latter went to police and filed a complaint after the bank informed him that the accused’s bank account was closed.
The accused admitted to prosecutors he was aware his account was closed.
"I knew it was a dud cheque, but I am extremely sorry for what had happened. And I pledge to rectify it,” he said.
He was charged on grounds of fraud. The accused will be deported once he completes jail term.
