Asian gets jail for stealing cables
Manama
An Asian national who stole electrical cables from his employer was given three months behind bars.
The 30-year-old accused claimed he resorted to robbery after his employer failed to pay him his salary for three months.
The accused was an electrical technician in the company and was spotted carrying a box full of metal pipes and cables.
The incident was immediately reported to police who quickly apprehended him. Ironically, the accused even failed to identify the name of the company he was serving when the Public Prosecution questioned him.
"I was sent to Muharraq Municipality to do some electric works. One day, I found a box full of electrical cables, and pipes. I decided to steal them because I wasn't paid for three months," the accused said in his statement.
He reportedly left the box in a parking lot between two vehicles, and covered it with a blanket to avoid attention.
"I headed back home after finishing my duty, and returned in the evening to pick it up. But as soon as I took it, the security guard in the property held me," he added.
The accused will be deported after he completes his prison term.
