Man jailed for cheating bank
Manama : An Arab man was handed down 7 years behind bars for deceiving a bank by submitting forged documents. The 36-year-old was implicated in submitting false documents to obtain an auto-loan from a local bank.
He reportedly got BD14,800 auto loan sanctioned from a local bank with the forged documents. He brought a luxury vehicle using the funds and fled the country in the same car.
Court files said that the defendant was working as a salesman, but he presented himself as a dental doctor in the Ministry of Health to the bank’s officials. He supported this via several faked documents, including a salary certificate.
The bank discovered the fraud after the defendant failed to settle the first instalment of the loan.
