India to boost ties with Bahrain

ManamaIndia’s Minister of State for External Affairs Dr V K Singh, yesterday expressed pride in the strong bi-lateral relations between Bahrain and India, while extending full support to the Indian community in the Kingdom.

The former chief of Indian Army, on his first official visit to Bahrain, made the statement while he attended a reception organised by Salaam Bahrain at Bahrain Conference Centre, Crowne Plaza. Assistant Undersecretary for Arab and Afro-Asian organizations, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  Shaikha Dr. Rana Bint Isa Al Khalifa, Alok Kumar Sinha, Ambassador of India to Bahrain, businessman Mohammed Dadabhai and other dignitaries attended the event.

“We have strived to ensure that the problems of the expatriate community are fully addressed in the last two and half years. India cares for its citizens and will make all its efforts to reach out to people in distress,” the Minister stated.

The long standing relations between both the countries provides a base for further investments, said Shaikha Dr. Rana Bint Isa Al Khalifa in her address to the gathering.  “The bilateral trade between Bahrain and India reached over 242 million dinars in 2015. We have a strong base on which we can build greater investment and commercial cooperation,” she said.

“We are also looking forward to grow our commercial and investment relations with India which has a potential future for development. The two countries have offered much in the form of tremendous diversity and vibrancy and can complement each other for a bright future” she added.
